We discovered them during the Startup Minute when they had one minute to win us over. Now they are preparing themselves for another exercise in style: revealing themselves without giving too much away. Our latest series gets the start-ups to pass a personality test!
This week, Christophe Perron opened the doors to Stimergy, the start-up he created in 2013 to recover the heat given off by servers.
If your start-up were a colour, what would it be?
It would be a mix of green and blue—a jade colour. For me this comes from “green”, because of the energy saving, but also beauty because jade is also a precious stone—like the environment that we still need to protect.
If your start-up were an animal, what would it be?
I’d say a jaguar, because it is quick and agile. It is an animal on the move that’s attentive, swift and efficient.
How do you define innovation?
For us, innovation means evolution. It’s a value proposition that changes things and improves people’s lives. Innovation is essentially a way of improving well-being.
Which proverb represents the spirit of your start-up?
“They did not know it was impossible, so they did it!” Mark Twain
If your start-up were a historical figure?
We would be Leonardo Da Vinci. He was a visionary who shook up the ideas of his time. He had a vision of a more peaceful future and that is like us.
Are your teams more tea or coffee?
I’d say we’re more tea, green tea even! The idea of well-being is very important to us, there can be stress but it’s an intelligent and controlled stress.
What is a typical day in your start-up like?
Nothing is fixed, but generally it is divided into two parts: we meet in the morning over a cup of coffee (or tea!), we then work without a break until lunch. We eat together or take a break to do some sport and the afternoon is spent on meetings in the field (building work, meetings with partners, etc.) around Grenoble and Paris.
If you had to describe Bouygues Construction in one word what would it be?
I’m going to answer with three words: a strategic partner! We grasped this great opportunity to take part in the Startup Minute so that we could make ourselves better known in the Group as we can provide real added value with our outstanding product.
You had a go at the exercise of an oral presentation in one minute; now can you have a go at a written presentation in 140 characters?
“Stimergy’s mission is to reconcile the energy transition with the digital transition by recycling the heat from data centres.” 125 characters, nailed it!
What are your next big events?
We will be at the European Utility Week in Vienna in October and the World EfficiencyShow & Congress in Paris from 13 to 15 October. We are opening several new facilities in the Rhône-Alpes region of France You will soon hear in the press about a partnership that we have signed with an industrialist to build a high energy efficiency data centre on an industrial site. Finally, we are launching fund raising to allow us to build our staff from 4 to 10 before the end of the year. A lot of things are still going to happen in 2015!
